Results from interdisciplinary studies at the Cleft segment were published in a special issue of the Journal of Geophysical Research (vol. 99, no. B3, Map). The following are some selected scientific papers on the geology of the Cleft segment.

The Cleft Segment, the southernmost of the Juan de Fuca Ridge, lies immediately north of the Blanco Fracture Zone. Juan de Fuca Ridge book km-long segment is named for a nearly continuous km-long, m wide cleft at its southern end.
